Happy Friday! First I want to say thanks to all of you for reading (really, thank you)!!! Nothing makes me happier than sharing my recipes with you all, and I hope you enjoy reading. I feel corny saying this, but it is really amazing when I read other food blogs and happen to see so many of the people who comment on my blog also commenting on other people’s blogs…it really is such a community! It makes the world feel so small!
So, several people have been asking me to do youtube videos for months now, and I guess there’s sort of two reasons it’s taken me so long. The first, I didn’t really know how to edit videos (and I could still say the same lol). The second, you’ve all gotten to know me through my writing, and the transition to video is sort of strange! Just as it took me a while to ease into blogging, I think the camera will take some getting used to. But I’m sure my personality will come out a bit more as time goes on and I’ll improve a little more each time. There are definitely some benefits to videos over picture, and I hope that some of you will find the videos useful! I intend to do about one video a week, and they will be recipe videos or some sort of how-to with tips and tricks. Here is my first one, which was specifically requested by Mel:
If you have any requests for videos, please let me know. Have a great weekend!
AWESOME! I have been thinking of trying this too. I’m moving tomorrow to a new place with more natural light- so maybe the time is right. Love it!
Thanks! Ooo how exciting. Are you staying in Manhattan? I wish I could live there…maybe someday!
Good job on the video! It’s funny that you mentioned pickled watermelon rinds, because I’m making some today. My mother use to make watermelon rinds preserves all of the time and it’s like eating candy. They are wonderful!
Thank you! I can’t believe it took me so long to come across them. They are so good!!!
Too funny! I could have used this about a month ago when I had the arduous task of slicing a 25lb. watermelon. Good to know!
What a great idea! The video and its subject matter.
Congratulations Joanne, this is big move…!!! Sometimes when we post pictures explain what we did we used to think “should be better with a video”…but from that to really do it is a great step.
Thank you! Yes it’s true, some things are easier to show on video!
Great video and very informative, great job!
Great video, and great that you are beginning to include this! I’d love to start doing this but am also nervous about editing – what did you do? It looks great 🙂
My mac comes with iMovie which as far as I can tell is decent! I know there are some good programs for PC too but I’m not sure what they are.
Thanks! I don’t have a Mac but I’m sure I can find some decent simple editing software. Also, I have an award for you 🙂 It’s waiting here: http://www.katherinemartinelli.com/blog/2011/tofu-satay-with-peanut-dipping-sauce/
You look and sound great!!! I love this!
Love the video-very informative, glad you have decided to start the video process on your blog. Great first and look forward to more.
Thank you Tina!! =)
Congratulations on a GREAT video! Would you believe I did a video today? I set it up, figured out what I was going to do and did it! …..then I discovered that when I hit the play button – I hit the STOP button and recorded NOTHING! This was great!
Oh no!!!! That is awful! It takes so much work to set up for a video too, what a bummer! What were you filming?
I have been toying with the idea too, but am yet to take the plunge! I dislike listening to my own recorded voice… Hats off to you though for doing it. And I like the content!
PS Thanks for commenting on my blog too and thus entering the giveaway! More to come where that jelly came from… 😉
Great job on your video! I have never carved a watermelon using your method. I will have to give it a try. Take care
Fab video and great tip!!! please make more videos!
Its so nice to see you and know you better. Great video and a lesson learned.
I have been receiving your posts but the arrive blank and it took me a while to find out it was you through a friend that helped me figure it out. Now I hope all is clear on my end.
Great video! Very informative, Joanne! Looking forward to more.
Great video Joanne! I usually dread cutting watermelons up.. you made it look so easy!
